What is an FRL unit?
An FRL unit prepares compressed air before it reaches valves, cylinders and tools. It combines three components in series, in this order:
- F Filter: removes water, oil droplets and particles from the compressed air.
- R Regulator: reduces and holds the air pressure at a stable set point.
- L Lubricator: adds a controlled oil mist that lubricates downstream pneumatic components.
A filter regulator (FR) combines the first two in one body. Choose stainless steel FRL units when standard aluminum or zinc bodies would corrode or contaminate the process.

What is the difference between an FRL unit and an air filter regulator?
An air filter regulator (FR) cleans and regulates compressed air in one body. An FRL unit adds a lubricator after it to put an oil mist into the air for tools and components that need lubrication. Shako offers both, such as the USFR filter regulator and the USFRL combination.
Why choose a stainless steel filter regulator?
